As of June 2026, we track 13 incentive programs that can offset EV charging costs in Ohio: 3 commercial, 8 residential. The federal 30C tax credit ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026, so these programs now carry most of the offset.

Available Everywhere

Federal incentives that apply in Ohio.

Available in every state. The federal 30C tax credit ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026; projects in service by that date can still claim it on that year's return. For new projects, the federal layer is grant funding administered through state DOTs and competitive rounds — which makes utility and state programs the main offsets.

30C Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit (ended June 30, 2026)

Ended for new projects. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (signed July 4, 2025) terminated the 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. EV charging property placed in service on or before that date in an eligible census tract can still claim it on that year's federal return: up to $100,000 per commercial port, equal to 6% of qualified costs, or 30% for taxpayers meeting prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements. Confirm treatment with a tax advisor.

The Part Everyone Underestimates

Incentives are won or lost in the paperwork.

Most charging incentives have equipment eligibility lists, network requirements, deadlines, and post-installation reporting — and many pay out only if the application went in before construction. Faith Energy bakes incentive capture into design-build delivery: we match hardware to program eligibility lists, sequence applications correctly, and hand you the documentation each program demands.

Straight Answers

Questions we answer every week.

What EV charging incentives are available in Ohio?
As of June 2026, there are 13 programs that can offset EV charging costs in Ohio: 3 commercial, 8 residential — mostly utility rebates and state grants. The federal 30C tax credit ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026. Programs open and close; confirm current status before budgeting.
Does Ohio offer rebates for commercial EV charging stations?
Yes. 3 commercial programs are currently tracked in Ohio, including Firelands Coop: Electric Vehicle Charger Rebates, PowerUp Commercial Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate Program. Most are administered by utilities and pay per port or per project, and many require pre-approval before installation begins.
Is the federal 30C tax credit still available for EV chargers?
No. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (signed July 4, 2025) ended the 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. Chargers placed in service on or before that date in an eligible census tract can still claim it on that year's return (up to $100,000 per commercial port: 6% of qualified cost, or 30% with prevailing wage and apprenticeship compliance). For projects energizing now, utility make-ready programs, state grants, and federal grant rounds carry the offset; confirm tax treatment with your advisor.
Who applies for the incentives — the owner or the contractor?
Formally the applicant is usually the site owner, but in practice the contractor determines whether you qualify: equipment must match program eligibility lists, applications often must precede construction, and payout requires commissioning documentation. Faith Energy handles incentive sequencing and paperwork as part of design-build delivery.
